WHAT ARE THE SIMILAR AND DIFFERENT WAYS IN WHICH HUMANS AND ANIMALS ADAPT?
Humans and animals theoretically adapt in almost identical ways. Humans adapt mainly in mental ways e.g. coping without someone you’ve had around all your life, or changing the way you get to work because your usual route is inaccessible. But animals on the other hand adapt both physically and mentally. For example an animal might adapt to move to where their food is - which is mental, or could also gain better eyesight – which is physical. The reason why humans don’t usually physically adapt is because in most cases we don’t need to. We live in a life style where we don’t have to hunt or gather our food; we buy it from the supermarket. We have no predators so we have no reason to develop camouflaging skin to hind from them, or razor sharp claws to fend them off. We have electricity so there’s no reason for us to develop eyes that can easily see in the dark. Humans have adapted but our brains are the things that have adapted the most. Instead of changes happening to US, we make other things change to suit us. Is this a good thing or a bad thing?
