WHY AND HOW HAVE HUMANS ADAPTED IN THE PAST 100 YEARS?
Humans have adapted more than you might think in the past 100 years. We adapt for the same reasons in which animals do – to survive. During natural disasters humans adapt majorly. They do whatever they can to make sure that they and those they care about are safe. If a flood strikes people don’t go around business as usual. They change the way they live until everything is normal and safe again. They use make shift boats as transportation instead of cars; fire instead of heaters for warmth; and they use candles for light instead of electricity. During the world wars humans have also adapted hugely. To shelter from bombs they hid in the undergrounds. Also as some produce that was usually imported from other countries wasn’t available because of the war people had to find substitutes that would give them the same nutrients. Another way that has changed the way we act, think and communicate is new technology. Humans have also been adapting to try and keep our environment healthy and clean. By slowly phasing out plastic bags, encouraging public transport, and by just being more thoughtful with what waste we put in what bin; we are changing our ways so that we will still be able to inhabit our planet for centuries to come.
